Happy Friday!
School holiday on Monday. Snow/Ice days on Tuesday and Wednesday. Two day work week. But still.
Speaking of those snow/ice days….
But, seriously, this video shows you Wednesday morning. This is how things were all day on Tuesday, too.
On with the show….
I live in Houston. You’ve probably noticed. (#Harvey) I am from Iowa, originally, but I’ve been here for over ten years. My skin has adapted to living on a swamp.
These week long periods of temperatures dropping below freezing and dry air and running our furnaces much more often has wreaked havoc everywhere.
Why are Some Christmas Trees Dying Faster in Houston?
Since roughly Thanksgiving (maybe even mid November), I’ve been battling with dry, flakey, itchy skin. Here are a few of my favorite things to help deal with this winter weather.
1. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Eye Gel
Due to the change in weather AND the air in my office, my eyelids are flaky and dry. This gel is the only thing that brings relief.
2. Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharge Concentrate
Over Thanksgiving we were in Oklahoma and my skin fa-reaked out. It got so bad I had scaly patches. I purchased the trial size of this concentrate and it worked SO well. I still use this regularly on my cheekbones and along my brow bones.
3. Philosophy Ultimate Miracle Worker
I use this daily on my whole face (excluding my eyes). I KNOW I’m supposed to use a sunscreen on my face, so this is what I use in the daytime.
4. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Moisturizer
I use this moisturizer at night after the matching eye gel and Moisture Surge Concentrate.
5. Sephora Clay Masks
I’ve always loved clay masks. I tried a few of these this winter (because they were new in the store and *oooh! something shiny*). My favorites are:
Purple – Moisturizing & smoothing – A mask enriched with purple clay and edelweiss extract that provides intense hydration and smooths the skin. For skin that is hydrated, softer and looks denser.
White – Re-mineralizing & soothing – A mask enriched with white clay and chamomile extract that replenishes skin in mineral salts and trace elements and relieves skin sensation of tightness. For skin that is soothed, comforted, as revitalized.
Both have done a great job helping my skin recover from this season.
