Tidy Less, Live More
by Don Suttajit
Book Description:
Your home isn’t just full of stuff; it’s a mirror of identity. Stop tidying. Shift within to live free from messy patterns.
On the outside, you hold it all together: the job, the people, and other demands of busy life. But on the inside-that is, inside your front door-lurks a mess that persists. Piles return, space vanishes, weekends disappear to cleaning. Despite storage systems and cleaning hacks, you’re caught in a cycle of maintenance, guilt, and frustration.
The truth is, clutter isn’t the real problem. It’s a symptom of something deeper: a conflicted identity. Tidy Less, Live More introduces a new way forward-an identity-based approach to decluttering and organizing. While most home-organizing books will tell you how to physically clean a room, Tidy Less, Live More addresses the root cause of clutter. By aligning your space with self-awareness, you’ll finally create lasting order and free your time for what matters most.
Don Suttajit knows what it’s like to be overwhelmed by clutter. He lived it himself. As a brand strategist and certified life coach, he blended identity, design, and psychology to create a method for profound breakthrough. Bridging self-discovery and practical systems, this book is less about managing stuff and more about knowing yourself and what you love-so your home finally follows.
Stop letting the mess control your story. Your home should support you, not drain you. With this identity-based approach, you’ll tidy less and live more.

My Take:

Filled with actionable steps to help organize your life AFTER you’ve considered the WHY behind your mess. Handy workbook activities at the end of each chapter make everything easier to implement.
So often books that are marketed at “cleaning up your space/cleaning up your life” are left so high in the abstract or are clearly a marketing ploy. It’s either “someday when you get your life together, you’ll be able to keep your kitchen organized like me,” or “if you buy this particular drawer system for the low, low price of $your-sanity.99 (a price only good for the next 10 minutes), than your life will magically be more organized, your boss will respect you, and your bank account will magically be filled with millions of dollars.” Not so with Tidy Less, Live More.
This book dives into the reasons behind WHY we aren’t able to keep our things organized. Surprisingly, the quick answer is NOT to just get rid of everything. Don Suttajit gives scientific and studied evidence that we aren’t failures just because our desks aren’t cleared every night. The first section of the book is looking inward and understanding why the reader – as an individual – might be facing recurring or constant messiness. The best part is – the rest of the book works with those individual reasons and helps provide clear pathways toward more structured orderliness in your life. Real questions and exercises at the end of each chapter made this a very thought-provoking and introspective exercise
We all have stuff – physical and emotional. This book offers real insight into WHY we hold on to our stuff and the ways we can happily (or at least with less guilt) get rid of the things standing in our own way.
While the book focuses on WHY we hold on to things or why we get overwhelmed when we try to handle it, the clear, underlying emphasis throughout the book is care, love, and understanding. There is no judgement, no harsh criticism; just examples of what may have gone sideways and how we can take small steps to get back on track (or find the tracks for the first time).
The Final Verdict
