I’m back with another song that has been stuck in my head/speaking to me lately.

That’s right.

Under Pressure

I’m sure we all have our own images and memories associated with this song. Recently, the radio has been playing this version more often and I am HERE for it.

It also came up not long ago in an episode of Magicians.*

Now, I know this isn’t the BEST – it’s a group of actors (who may or may not have any musical background), but I think they did a pretty good job.

C’mon, tell the truth – it’s not any different than you and your friends in high school/college in the car.

It is amazing to me the insight and depth these two musicians put into their music and the world is a darker place with them gone.

*A note about Magicians

This show is somewhat like any of the other big series (Game of Thrones, Westworld, Sopranos, etc.).

Do you watch it? Yes.

Would you recommend it to a friend? …uh…..

The reason for the hesitation is for all the hell and emotional turmoil you know they would face. Would they enjoy it as much as you? Maybe.

If they don’t, will they blame you for the parts you know are coming (ie. Red Wedding, Shame, etc. in Game of Thrones)? Hell. Yes.

So, here’s my disclaimer on Magicians.

It is a VERY well written show. The first season was fun. Mostly. It had a point. You were on an adventure with your friends, the main characters. Did the second season suck? A bit. Did the third season redeem the whole damn thing? Damnit, yes.

The REASON I don’t recommend this show is because it is FULL of triggers – suicide, depression, sexual assault, etc. Now, none of these issues are handled lightly or just wedged in for a plot point – they are each a main part of the story (and true to the books they are based upon), BUT please know these triggers are real.

To the show’s credit, they are diligent about posting related information about getting yourself or a loved one help if necessary (ex. posting information about the suicide prevention hotline, sexual assault hotline, etc.).
