Happy National Drink Wine Day!
Honestly, I am not much of one to drink wine – with or without dinner. I still find myself falling back to these when I’m wanting alcohol:
However, sometimes the day does call for wine and I have my favorites.
Red Wine
My favorite is a malbec. Not all malbecs are created equal and everyone has their own preference. My top choice is:
Mendoza, Argentina- On the nose there is freshly crushed violet flowers enveloping a deep core of jam preserves and ripened plums. The palate has racy notes of violet and graphite, and are followed by mouthfuls of dry cherries and fresh berry fruit.
Just behind that one is:
Colchagua Valley, Chile – This bright Malbec presents outstanding aromas of raspberries, coffee and tobacco. The fruit forward palate is balanced by toasty oak flavor and silky tannins for a complex, enjoyable Malbec.
I have found that malbecs work best with red meat dishes or on their own.
Randomly, they are also really good with carrots.
White Wine
My favorite white wine for anything is:
Italy- Crisp yet delicate, this dry, light-bodied wine has refreshing citrus flavors and represents an excellent value. Have it as an aperitif with light hors d’oeuvres or with a seafood lunch or dinner.
This one is good any time, with any dish. It’s really good to use while making risotto.
It’s also really good in my favorite white sangria recipe:

Book Review of Lore Olympus (Vol 1) by Rachel Smythe and it is extremely clear to my why this webtoon and published collection is so popular. The art is amazing and the story is so well done. I love it!
