Trying a little something different this week….
Posting on a Wednesday.
I am joining in on the What’s Up Wednesday linkup because what introvert doesn’t need a little prompting to open up and talk about themselves?
Let’s do this!
What We’re Eating This Week
With the holiday weekend this past weekend, we started out the week eating like we were in elementary school, apparently. Sunday night’s dinner was hotdogs. Monday night it was grilled cheese sandwiches. MyHusband is out of town for a couple of nights, so MyChild and I are having charcuterie and frozen pizza. #foodie
What I’m Reminiscing About
Though there were some fun conversations in the car this weekend about the struggle bands go through when they try to find a new sound and how fans can be straight up jerks and want everything to sound the same. Bands that got brought up: Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beyonce, Adele, The Rembrandts, The Gin Blossoms, Better than Ezra… I’m sure there were more.
What I’m Loving
I have found my new favorite drink at Starbucks. I’m excited and a little nervous. I have been a devoted Mocha drinker since my early college days (we don’t need to go into how long ago that was), so to find something I am just as happy with… or maybe love a little more, it crazy.
Right now I’ve been drinking the Vanilla Sweet Cream Nariño 70 Cold Brew with one pump of mocha sauce and one packet of sugar. I think it’s wonderful!
What We’ve Been Up To
Random field trip to the “dinosaur museum” because it was a holiday with my little photographer.
It’s hard to tell in this photo, but MyChild’s favorite thing to do at natural science museums is to walk around with her iPod and take photos. She does a good job of taking nicely composed photos. I’m impressed.
What I’m Dreading
Saturday. Dance recital.
I do NOT care one bit how MyChild does. She could stand up on that stage and wave at her dad the whole time. I am just so nervous that I am going to screw something up for her – not get her to the right spot on time, her costume is going to rip, her “ballerina hair” won’t be stage-ready. I am SO not a dance mom.
Also. It is literally going to take up my entire Saturday. What is that about?
What I’m Working On
Work, work, work. Type, type, type.
Right now I am not in the midst of of crazy hard time period, but it’s coming. I’m trying to get ahead on some things so it doesn’t all come crashing down and demanding attention at once.
Ha. Good luck, me.
What I’m Excited About
It’s still over six weeks away, but I am SO excited for our family vacation this summer.
MOST of the time, we travel to the grandparents’ homes. Yes, we do thing in the cities where they live, but My Husband and I have decided that it is [far past] time to take vacations for just the three of us.
We have started planning (and paying for) Disney next summer, so this year is just a small 3 day road trip, but I am SO excited.

Followed by a Sunday trying to get two day’s worth of stuff done.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
June marks the beginning of summer camp season!
This is MyChild’s first year of summer camp. Last year, she was still in her preschool/pre-k class, but this year she gets to do field trips, special events, and fun things like that.
Yes, my mama heart is freaking out about her being on a bus for field trips, but I’m trying to be cool.
She still isn’t old enough for some of the camps I have in mind – zoo, science, cooking, etc. but she will get to have a great summer.
What Else is New
This is pretty random, but I got a new eye shadow palette recently and, so far, I am loving it. Do to my work environment (it’s weirdly dry, even though we live in a very humid climate), my eye lids are SO dry. I can usually get it under control/manageable with moisturizers and such, but I have to be careful about what eye shadow I use.
I’ve been using this one:
Tarte’s Tartelette in Bloom Amazonian Clay Eye Shadow Palette
It smells good (NOT something I was expecting). It has GREAT coverage. AND it feels so nice on my eyes. I’ve only been using it for about 2 weeks, but I think it’s a keeper!

We do a big vacation every other year too and this year is a road trip for us as well. It is always fun though and always great to get out of town. Recitals do take up the whole day…and the night before with rehearsals. I feel ya! Happy Wednesday!
